Lokasinya, tidak jauh dengan Komtar yang menjadi pusat pentadbiran Kerajaan Negeri di bawah Ketua Menteri, Lim Guan Eng. Saya ingat kedai makan ini milik Cina kerana yang jaga kaunter adalah Cina. Manakala, makanan dimasak oleh orang Melayu Islam kita. "Ayah minum mana ada kena sembelih," seloroh Zolkifly, memadamkan was-was saya untuk makan di situ. 'Kedai Minum Cina, Makan Melayu' seumpama ini banyak di Pulau Pinang. Ini, adalah identiti sebenar masyarakat berbilang-kaum di negeri ini. Kongsi Meja Makan Tetapi, saya pun tak tahu rupa-rupanya banyak 'Kedai Minum Cina, Makan Melayu' di Pulau Pinang. Dalam pengetahuan saya, yang wujud di Pulau Pinang antaranya Restoran Mamak.
Tetapi, rata-rata kedai mamak di Pulau Pinang (sebenarnya di negara ini) semua dibenarkan beroperasi 24 jam sehari. Ada kawan memberitahu, keistimewaan ini kerana banyak pengendai kedai mamak adalah ahli KIMMA dan KIMMA adalah penyokong kuat Ultra Melayu Umno. Ini fakta! Bukan auta. Watak fotojurnalis membuatkan saya tidak segan untuk meramahi pemilik Restoran Nasi Padang Transfer Road - 'Kedai Minum Cina, Makan Melayu' lah.
Menurut Jimmy, 'Kedai Minum Cina, Makan Melayu' itu sudah beroperasi lebih 50 tahun lepas. "Kedai makan ini sudah 50 tahun. Dulu, bapa gua yang buka. Kini, anak lelaki gua kadang-kadang membantu," ujar Jimmy. Boleh dikatakan 'Kedai Minum Cina, Makan Melayu' sesak tiap-tiap hari. Pelanggannya, rata-rata Melayu. Cina dan India pun tak kurang bilangannya. Di 'Kedai Minum Cina, Makan Melayu' ini, semua bangsa boleh kongsi meja makan. Kesederhanaan dan kesantunan Jimmy, isterinya, anak-anaknya serta pekerja Muslim lain memang wajar dipuji. Tak ada pun prejudis. Semua makanan halallan toyyiba, dan yang paling penting enak.
Kalau saya sebut, prejudis sesama kaum di Pulau Pinang antaranya berpunca oleh politik asabiah melampau Umno dan Perkasa, mungkin saya digambarkan cuba bawa sentimen kepartian sampai ke meja makan 'Kedai Minum Cina, Makan Melayu' pula. Tetapi, itu lah hakikatnya. Belakangan ini, - sebenarnya sejak DAP/PR mengambil alih Kerajaan Negeri Pulau Pinang pada 8 Mac 2008 lagi - Umno dan macainya Perkasa memang banyak mencetus suasana tidak aman di tanah air ini.
Saya ada merakamkannya di sini. Guan Eng yang juga Setiausaha Agung DAP digambarkan anti Melayu dan anti Islam. Sekarang, lagi banyak. Tak perlulah saya sebut satu persatu di sini kerana semua kita lebih maklum. Politik melampau Umno dan macai Perkasa ini sampai Ahli Parlimen Bukit Mertajam Steven Sim Chee Keong menggesa Putrajaya supaya menggagalkan projek huru-hara negara, Pulau Pinang. PRK Kajang Abang Khairul Ishak, Abang Marzuki Md. Lazim, Abang Elias Md. Lazim dan Abang Amir Md. Ghazali (Ketua Skuad Keadilan Malaysia, SKUAD merangkap bekas Ketua AMK Pulau Pinang) turut sertai musafir kali ini. Menurut Amir, Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain (Ketua Jentera PR P.Pinang di Kajang) ada menyusun ceramah umum dan kelompok di PRK Kajang malam tadi serta sepetang hari ini. Saya dan rakan-rakan lain sempat dibawa meninjau lokasi-lokasi 'panas' sekitar DUN Kajang, termasuk ceramah-ceramah kelompok anjuran Umno serta Perkasa. Selepas meninjau beberapa kawasan ceramah kedua-dua pihak, saya ada beberapa analisis tersendiri mengenai pilihan raya tersebut. In sha Allah, akan saya kongsi kemudian. Cuma, ada pendapat seorang Ahli Parlimen Umno Pulau Pinang kepada saya pada malam tadi, menarik kalau dikongsi di sini.
Saya kata, "sah sabotaj dalaman Umno ini datang daripada tim Najib!" Selepas selesai jelajah 13 NGO Dari Permatang Pauh Ke Kajang di sini, saya dan rakan-rakan menyertai ceramah umum oleh Naib Presiden PAS Datuk Husam Musa di Stadium Kajang. Menjelang tengah malam, kami semua singgah makan dan sembang politik di Restoran Sate Kajang Samuri, di sini. Zolkifly seperti biasa, melaporkan perkembangan PAS Pulau Pinang serta progres projek 'Angsa Bertelur Emas'.
Bagi Husam, kemenangan di Kajang penting untuk PAS kerana PRK kali ini akan mengukuhkan muafakat bersama-sama Pakatan Rakyat Ke Putrajaya semasa PRU14 nanti. "Semasa Anwar Ibrahim ke (Kem Tahanan) Kemunting dulu, arwah Datuk Fadzil Noor boleh mengumumkan Anwar Ibrahim (sebagai) perdana menteri jika kita (dulu PR dikenali sebagai Barisan Alternatif) mengambil alih Putrajaya. "Menang Kajang adalah 'ubat penawar' daripada PAS untuk Anwar sekeluarga serta 52 peratus (undi majoriti PRU13) rakyat (Semenanjung) Malaysia," respons Husam. Husam turut mengulas mengenai kelemahan luar biasa Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak dalam menguruskan insiden MH370. Saya pun berkongsi pendapat peribadi seperti dalam entri MH370: Jejak lelaki Uighur dekatkan insiden pada motif pembunuhan? Bagi Husam, itu bukan insiden kemalangan sebagaimana cuba diisyaratkan oleh Putrajaya sejak Sabtu lepas. Tak sempurna rasanya kalau tak tanya iklim politik pertadbiran PAS di Kelantan. "Macam MH370, radar rakyat masih belum boleh mengesan," seloroh Husam kepada saya. Saya tumpang simpati.
